The End of the Brand Gatekeeper

The brand designer’s job is changing. Metaview brand designer Juliet Faldin guides us on building systems, not one‑off assets, so your brand stays on track even when you’re nowhere near the Slack thread.

Every design team has the same problem. The brand lives in Figma and Figma is for designers. Everyone else such as sales, CS, marketing, the new hire who just joined on Monday, either asks you for assets or makes their own and gets it wrong.

The traditional answer is a brand guidelines PDF. But that document gets ignored, and the Slack messages keep coming.

This is more of a structural problem than a process one. In the old model, the brand designer is the bottleneck by design. Assets get made when someone asks and consistency happens when someone remembers to check. The system depends on people coming to you to check – and people are busy, and they won’t always come to you.
