The Case for Rewriting Entry-Level Creative Jobs

AI and cost-cutting have become convenient excuses to freeze out juniors. But if you actually care about your future talent bench, this might be the moment to redesign what entry-level looks like altogether. Hannah Bowler asks the industry how they’d rewrite junior roles for the era of AI.

Entry-level jobs are going through a major period of disruption. A tough economy, the impact of AI and the implications of post-Covid work culture mean the creative industry as a collective is hiring and training fewer junior people than before. Though perhaps justifiable in the eyes of some, is this actually benefitting a business?

A strong counter argument is that rather than using excuses and backing away from the responsibility of training the next generation of talent, leaders should instead be focused on redesigning the roles normally attributed to the new generation of talent. By doing so they would be making the entry-level position fit for the future of work.
