In this first episode of Culture Code, Alex sits down with Doddz – the digital artist and founder and creative director of Dime, whose augmented-reality work jumps off jackets, canvases and just about anything you can point a phone at.
Doddz didn’t start in tech. He went from Banksy-inspired stencils to poetry, sculpture and hand-painting denim jackets for musicians, before a primitive bit of AR made a jacket “come to life” and set the course for everything since. His studio Dime now builds that same sense of wonder for brands like Dior, Marvel, Nike and Disney.
They get into his origin story, why he always starts with the emotion rather than the technology, the thinking behind his work Pollution Piano, and how he convinces legacy brands to show up in new places for new audiences.
