In today’s media landscape, “credibility” no longer automatically translates to a citation by an established journalist. Credibility in this current world of influence comes from people who display authenticity and, above all, personality.
Do you remember when the notion of crying into a camera on Instagram was unthinkable? While I’m not advocating for founders to bawl their eyes out directly to camera, I am calling on them to break the structure and wall that has so far existed between them and the audiences they need to influence.
The great unbundling of media is both good and bad. Misinformation and bias are obvious downsides to unregulated flows of information, not to mention the blow to traditional media outlets and the career security of valued journalists.
